Football Fast Acca Builder: A Feature

Simplifying multi-bet creation into a fast, intuitive experience

Overview
This project focused on designing a streamlined “Fast Acca Builder” feature within a sportsbook platform, allowing users to quickly create accumulator bets.

The goal was to simplify a complex betting process into a fast, intuitive flow that encourages engagement and repeat use.

The Problem
Creating accumulator bets is inherently complex, requiring users to:

Navigate multiple matches and markets
Select and combine outcomes
Understand odds and bet structure

The existing experience was slow, fragmented, and required too many steps, creating friction and reducing engagement.

Approach

I focused on reducing friction and making the bet-building process feel fast and seamless.

The experience was redesigned to guide users through selection, combination, and confirmation in a more intuitive way. Complex interactions were simplified into clear steps, with immediate feedback and visibility of selections.

Particular attention was given to speed, clarity, and ease of use, ensuring users could quickly build and adjust bets without confusion.

My Role

As Product Designer, I was responsible for:

Designing the end-to-end user flow for the feature
Simplifying the bet-building interaction model
Improving clarity around selections and outcomes
Collaborating with product and developers to align on functionality
Creating intuitive UI patterns for a fast, repeatable experience

Lo-fi Wireframes

Efficiency at Concept phase:
I built out lo-fi wireframe concepts to test to increase my output efficiency and steer the design direction from the start. These tests included surveys to uncover both what markets football punters preferred most when building an accumulator and how would they like to experience this journey.

Concepts & Prototypes

Concepts included a dynamic block on the page, a slide-up component with a stepper, and, lastly, a pop-up modal. I fleshed out the designs into hi-fi wireframes and created prototypes for A/B and usability testing.

After testing, gathering insights and iterating, the user’s clear favourite was the pop-up. The dynamic block on the page was found to be too cluttered and complicated in comparison, and the slide-up with the stepper had too many friction points.
